Philip Burgi P.E.
Mr Burgi is an internationally recognized expert in the field of hydraulics and water resources engineering with over 50 years of experience. He is a Distinguished Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers recognizing his eminence in the field of hydraulic engineering. His contributions to understanding the performance of hydraulic structures and equipment, such as dams, spillways, outlet works, fish ladders, gates, and valves have added to the body of scientific knowledge for hydraulic engineering. His engineering practice ranges from civil engineering service in the Peace Corps (Chile) in the late 60’s to researcher and manager for the Bureau of Reclamation’s Hydraulic Laboratory for 30 years, construction engineer for small-medium sized irrigation projects in Peru (Inter-American Development Bank) and, more recently has served as Peer Review Board member for the Panama Canal Authority’s Gatun Lake Spillway design.
