My research primarily focuses on the impacts of large roughness elements (LREs) such as natural boulders on ecohydraulics in rivers and streams. I, experimentally, study the effects of multiple arrangements of LREs on local mean and turbulent flow fields and sediment transport. I'm interested to understand how these changes in flow fields and stream processes may influence in-stream habitat quality for aquatic species such as fish. The main measurement techniques that I use in the lab are ADV and PIV (both 2D and tomographic).
