Dr. David Sample is a professor of biological systems engineering at Virginia Tech, earning his Ph.D. in civil engineering from the University of Colorado, a B.S. and an M.S. in environmental engineering from the University of Florida. Dr. Sample's research focuses on improving water quality by improving modeling and monitoring practice related to design of stormwater control measures and green infrastructure. Dr. Sample's research is integrated with his extension program through a variety of outreach activities. Dr. Sample currently serves as the Chair of the Stormwater Modeling Committee of the Urban Water Resources Research Council. Dr. Sample has authored or co-authored over 200 journal articles, conference proceedings and/or presentations, extension publications, and reports. He is a registered professional engineer in Virginia, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina; and has a specialty certification from the American Academy of Water Resource Engineers.
