Janek Laanearu is Associate Professor (tenure-track) of fluid dynamics and hydraulic systems in the School of Engineering at Tallinn University of Technology since the beginning of year 2022. He has a significant experience working in national and international research groups in the broad field of civil and environmental engineering, to improve the functioning of hydraulic systems related to the dynamics of fluids in the built environment and to solve problems important to society. The publication of high-quality papers in high-impact, transnational journals is one of his main priorities. He received his PhD (doctor philosophiae) in Environmental Physics from the University of Tartu in 2001, preceded by a PhLic (licentiate philosophiae) degree in Atmospheric Sciences/Physical Oceanography obtained from Stockholm University in 2000. Prior to this, he was graduated with an MSc in Environmental Physics and a Diploma in Applied Physics from the University of Tartu in 1996 and 1994, respectively.
