Qiankun Zhao is a Ph.D. candidate in Civil and Environmental Engineering at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. His research areas include water resources system analysis with an emphasis on the analytical study of reservoir operation, reservoir operation modeling using machine learning algorithms, and agent-based modeling for complex systems. He has been involved in several research projects, including the Center for Advanced Bioenergy and Bioproducts Innovation (CABBI). He has authored or co-authored 11 peer-reviewed journal articles. He has worked as a reviewer for several top journals in water resources. He is also a teaching assistant at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
