Dr. Sreetharan has 34 35 years of experience in watershed and floodplain modeling. She is a Senior Engineer at Dewberry in its Fairfax, VA office. She has developed and reviewed flood studies for the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s National Flood Insurance Program. Her current studies and interests include real-time and forecast modeling, riverine climate change impacts assessment, tidal-riverine interaction modeling /forecasting, urban floodplain detection methodologies, and reservoir optimization. . Sreetharan holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Hertfordshire University in England. She is a Professional Engineer and has been a Certified Floodplain Manager since 2002.
Ms. Sreetharan has served as the AWRA NCRS’ membership chair for three years (2014-2017) and the current chair.
