Professor Hong earned a BS in Chemistry, MS and PhD in Environmental Engineering Science, all from the California Institute of Technology. Since 1987, he has been on the faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Utah. Dr. Andy Hong teaches environmental engineering courses along with engineering economics and statistics. He seeks to apply innovative processes in contaminant issues, particularly for treatment of contaminated water, soil, and sediment, for which 10 US patents have been issued. Dr. Hong is currently working on applications of micro/nanobubbles for PFAS, harmful algal blooms, bioenergy, and viral disinfection.
