Dorneles has a Master's degree in environmental technology and water resources from the University of Brasília (UnB). She graduated from the University of Brasilia (2012-2018) in environmental engineering with a sandwich degree from the University of Glasgow (UoG) through the Science without Borders program. She worked as an engineer consultant for the Waterway Infrastructure Board of the Brazilian's National Department of Transportation Infrastructure (DNIT) along with the company Serviços Técnicos de Engenharia S.A. (STE-S.A.) , performing tasks in project analysis, infrastructure project budgeting, hydrological studies, and other technical studies. She currently works for Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV) in developing methods for measuring management costs for road, rail and waterway construction.
