Prof. Jian-Ping Suen is a professor and the chairman of the Hydraulic and Ocean Engineering Department at the National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), TAIWAN. He is also the Director of the Institute of Ocean Technology and Marine Affairs, and the Director of the International Master Program on Natural Hazards Mitigation and Management. He earned his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2005. In 2006, he served as a postdoctoral fellow at the Biodiversity Research Center, Academia Sinica. That same year, he joined NCKU and is pursuing his academic interests in integrating ecology with hydrology, hydraulics, water quality, and geomorphology. Currently he works on various projects within the interdisciplinary areas, including fish sampling and habitat survey, environmental flows, ecological water resources management, environmental systems analysis, artificial neural networks, stream ecosystems, hyporheic water, and environmental DNA.
