Extension Associate & Ph.D. Student
North Carolina State University
Caleb is an Extension Associate in North Carolina State University’s Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering. Caleb recently completed his Masters of Biological and Agricultural Engineering at NCSU. He earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering with a Mathematics Minor at Marshall University. Among other stormwater control measures (SCMs), he performs field studies of gravel wetlands and regenerative stormwater conveyances. To improve flood resiliency of coastal SCMs, he synthesizes fundamentals from interviews with stormwater professionals, analyzes rainfall records, and models watershed scale implementation of green stormwater infrastructure.
Caleb Mitchell has enjoyed climbing around and monitoring SCMs since 2018 with the stormwater engineering group. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. focused on resilience of SCMs to flooding, bioterrorism, and industrial runoff.
