Arefeh Safaei Moghadam is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Southern Methodist University. She is also a Data Scientist on the Yield Modeling Team at Climate LLC. In her PhD she combined innovative data sources including volunteer-generated information (VGI) from the Waze crowd-sourced navigation app with engineering knowledge and models to extract real-time roadway flooding information. She is passionate about tackling new research problems, thinking out of the box, and learning new tools and concepts.
