Matthew D. Davis is a PhD candidate at the University of California, Davis. He is investigating integrated water resource management and water sharing in Chile. As a postgraduate researcher, he contributed to the team investigating a state-wide water resource-economics assessment of water allocation and use in the interconnected water system of California. As a consulting engineering in Chile, Matthew worked on an environmental impact assessment of mining operations and undertook an assessment of sustainable groundwater use for the metropolitan water company of Santiago. In New Zealand he served as technical manager of the Integrated Catchment Study of Auckland City that included combined sewer overflow and stormwater quality discharges, flood hazard mapping, and groundwater and near harbour assessments. With the Auckland Council and Waikato Regional Council, Matthew had oversight of the stormwater research programme that led to best practice guidelines at both organizations.
