Conceição de Maria Albuquerque Alves holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Ceará (1994), a master's degree in Hydraulic Engineering and Sanitation from the University of São Paulo (1997), and a PhD in Environmental and Water Resources Systems at Cornell University (2005), Ithaca-NY, USA. She is currently a professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Brasília (UnB). Her research interests are in issues of Equity in Urban Sanitation Systems; Planning and Adaptive Management of Urban Water Systems; Agent-Based Modeling for Complex Systems, Rainwater Harvesting Systems in Urban Areas.
