Alabama Water Institute
Md. Shahabul Alam is a Postdoc with the Alabama Water Institute at The University of Alabama. He worked as a post-doctoral hydrologist with the Pacific Climate Impacts Consortium at the University of Victoria.
Md. Shahabul obtained his MSc from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Water Resources Engineering in 2010 and the University of Saskatchewan in Civil Engineering in 2014. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan in 2020. His Ph.D. work focused on spatial and temporal variability in the water balance of oil sands mine reclamation covers. His research interests include surface and subsurface hydrology, water balance modeling, hydrological modeling, statistical downscaling, and uncertainty assessment due to climate change. Md. Shahabul worked as a Civil Engineer with Bangladesh Water Development Board for more than 10 years on projects related to flood control, riverbank protection, drainage improvement, and socio-economic development.
