Andrea Cominola is Assistant Professor of Smart Water Networks at the Technische Universität Berlin. In 2017 he received a PhD in Information Technology at Politecnico di Milano for his dissertation on modelling residential water consumers’ behavior using smart meter data. He currently leads the Smart Water Networks Lab, which he started in late 2018, and is involved in several national and international projects. His research is focused on digital water, hydroinformatics, and data mining and machine learning applications to advance the digitalization of water utilities, support water conservation, enhance consumer engagement, and model coupled human-environment systems. In May 2021 he was elected Chair of the subdivision “Water policy, management and control” at the European Geosciences Union. His work has received major professional accolades from several organizations, including Water Europe, AGU, ASCE, iEMSs.
