Dr. Heng Wei has extensive research expertise and industrial experience in intelligent transportation systems (ITS), AI-based Informatics and GIS in smart travel demand and environmental analysis, multimodal and micromobility-friendly system (connectivity, accessibility, and transportation equity), traffic data detection and analytics, CAV impacts, and infrastructure-CAV nexus in traffic signal system design, He has secured a total of $7.4M (share $4.4M) research grants funded by Ohio DOT, FHWA, NSF, US EPA, USDOT UTCs, and industrial sector. His research has resulted in over 219 peer-reviewed and referred papers, and 18 books. He is the lead editor of the book, “Disruptive Emerging Transportation Technologies” that was published by ASCE in April 2022. He is the second author of the US EPA’s report (2020) National Water Infrastructure Adaptation Assessment, Part II, Smart Urban Design (SUD) and Application Case Studies, which introduces AIR-SUSTAIN, a transportation sustainability and climate adaptation analysis tool.
