Aschalew Cherie Workneh was born in 1983 in Wogidie Woreda, South Wollo, Ethiopia, at a place named Gelebe. I earned my BSc and MSc in Irrigation Engineering and Hydraulic and Hydropwer Engineering, respectively, from Arba Minch University. I have been employed as a lecturer at the Arba Minch Water Technology Institute in Arba Minch, Ethiopia, since 2010 in the department of Water Resources and Irrigation Engineering. I am a Ph.D. student currently at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, studying Hydraulic Engineering in the department of Civil Engineering.
