Water/CFD Modeler
Jacobs Engineering
Shinjiro Miyawaki models flows of water and solids to design a wide variety of structures by applying 3-D computational fluid dynamics at Jacobs Engineering. He enjoys advancing technologies to solve practical problems involving flows of water and solids in 3-D. He has evaluated secondary clarifiers, aeration tanks, and flow-split structures. He has also worked on projects to design pump stations, drop structures, and fish passages. He received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Iowa, continued his research at the same university, and joined Jacobs Engineering, then CH2M HILL, six years ago.
