Dr. Yanyan Zhang is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at New Mexico State University. She obtained her Ph.D. degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Missouri in 2012. Before joining NMSU in 2016, she had her postdoctoral training in the treatment of oil sands process-affected water at the University of Alberta in Canada. Her current research interests include pathogen detection and inactivation, antibiotic resistance in urban and natural environments, integrated biochemical and physicochemical systems for wastewater treatment and reuse, and toxicity assays and risk assessment for water reuse.
