Water Network Tool for Resilience capabilities to support data integration and co-simulation

Resilience analysis of critical infrastructure is inherently complex and requires the integration of diverse data and disparate models in a cohesive analysis to produce meaningful decision support. In this presentation, we discuss recent updates to the Water Network Tool for Resilience (WNTR) to help support data integration and co-simulation. This includes the ability to integrate geospatial data from geographic information systems (GIS) and use custom simulation options for greater control of stop conditions and output. These updates will be discussed along with applications that are using these features. The GIS capabilities facilitate a wide range of geospatial data integration and analysis options and is currently being used to enhance water network model development in Puerto Rico. The new simulation options facilitate integration with third party simulation and optimization tools, such as Sandia’s Microgrid Design Toolkit which is currently being used to define design objectives for water and power systems under different threat conditions. Future development of WNTR will continue supporting features to enhance integration and support analysis options to support resilience analysis.
